The 30 Day Low Carb Diet: Facts and Information

A 30 Day Low Carb Diet will rapidly increase weight loss. I cannot say that I am particularly fond of reducing carbohydrate intake completely as they are an important nutrient to the human body’s functionality, however, reducing the amount of carbohydrates you do consume will have major changes on weight loss.

What Is A Carbohydrate?

Carbohydrates are organic compounds that consist of sugars, starches, celluloses, and gums. They give your body the energy it needs to get through the day. The Atkins Diet popularized the low carb fad in the mid 2000’s, but the problem was that people were removing a vital nutrient from their body and being reaffirmed that this was healthy. You can still eat a low carb diet to manage your weight and sustain your energy levels throughout the day. It’s important to note that there are complex carbohydrates that the body breaks down slowly to give your body a steady flow of energy throughout the day and simple sugars, the ones that give your body instant energy satisfaction and also direct production insulin which turns the pancreas on overdrive. Not good for the pancreas.  It is those simple sugars that are known as the bad carbohydrates.

What I am suggesting is that when you choose to go on a 30 day low carb diet, you stick with it to see the expected results. Only you make the choices of what foods you choose to eat and it is extremely easy to lose track and fall off the wagon. Stay focused, goal in sight, and remember it’s on a 30 day low card diet.

Glycemic Index : An Important Reference Tool for the 30 Day Low Carb Diet

The Glycemic Index is the standard used to analyze foods that are high in carbohydrates based on how they affect the human body. A high Glycemic Index indicates a food that breaks down quickly into simple sugars causing a fast spike in blood glucose levels. Conversely, a low GI level indicates carbohydrates that break down slowly giving your body a more balanced and sustained release throughout the day.

Steps to a Healthy 30 Day Low Carb Diet

  • Eat Carbs In The Morning. Your body is constantly processing whether or not you are actually in motion. Thought processes, talking, swallowing, every voluntary and involuntary action your body makes requires energy (measured in kcals). Typically, each person requires 2,000 calories a day. A 30 day low carb diet doesn’t mean a 30 day no carb diet. Carbohydrates are the most eaten food in the world, have existed since the beginning of time, and are essentially everywhere we look. Choose healthy carbs in the morning for breakfast such as a whole grain English muffin or wheat toast, a cup of fruit, or if you can, some sweet potato! Load up in the morning if you decide that you are going to refrain from eating carbs for the rest of the day. This will provide your body with enough low GI sugars to keep you moving. It’s the simple sugars that give you a quick sugar high and have you crashing in 30 minutes. The complex carbohydrates take longer for the body to convert to glucose thus giving you extended vigor.
  • Snack on Fruits, Veggies and Nuts. Have you ever scoffed down a Snickers bar? Their slogan is “Hungry, why wait?”, but it should read “Hungry? Eat this for a 10 minute appetite suppressant.” The simple sugars that constitute so much of what we eat for snacks are immediately processed into glucose by the body and no real nutrition exists to maintain a satisfaction of hunger. There is usually no fiber which is extremely important and a nutrient that people do not receive enough of in their diets. Fiber is also another great weight loss nutrient as it is the nutrient that gives you a “full feeling”. Fruits, veggies, and nuts will provide you with protein, complex carbohydrates, and fiber to satisfy hunger pains, give your metabolism a boost, and make you feel strong. It is all too often I have seen many low carb dieters looking weary and lifeless because they are not sufficiently giving their bodies the proper amounts.
  • Everything in Moderation. My idea of a 30 day low carb diet doesn’t consist of removing carbs completely as the Atkins Diet suggests. It simply takes a common sensical approach to nutrition. The human body’s six essential nutrients are (in order of importance) water, carbohydrates, protein, fat, vitamins, and minerals. You can manage your carb intake throughout the day. Eliminating carbohydrates at night is most important. Glucose that is stored becomes fat. If you eat carbs at night, your body will be converting them into sugar while you sleep, thus storing ALL of the unused energy as fat. You can do the math, but it isn’t beneficial to weight loss.

Four Ideas To Remember

Load up on health conscious carbohydrates in the morning. This will provide more sustained energy throughout the day breaking down slowly into glucose, which is necessary for energy. It's howe quickly foods break down into glucose that is important.

Snack on complex carbohydrates with a low Glycemic Index. Apples, berries, beans, or oatmeal are such examples that leave you full (fiber) and keeping you energized.

Refrain from eating carbs past lunchtime. Between lunch and dinner, eat a yam or drink some coffee sweetened with agave nectar (low GI) as coffee is an appetite suppressant. For dinner have a lean meat such as fish or lean chicken , a high fiber vegetable containing all of your essential and non essential nutrients such as broccoli or spinach, and top it off with a big glass of water.

Water is filling as is snacking. Snacking in small portions throughout the day is most beneficial to losing weight.

Drink lots of water, snack on healthy foods with a low Glycemic Index, and refrain from eating carbohydrates past lunchtime, or at least past 4 pm and you should be on your way to losing wright.

Do You Have the Will Power?

A 30 Day Low Carb Diet is a great way to test your will power and also test if it’s the right method for you. Losing weight is a constant challenge for many people, however, when you do the hard work to lose it, maintaining it is much simpler.

I suggest only trying the 30 Day Low Carb Diet if you do not exercise regularly. Regular exercise requires much stored and prolonged energy. You will find yourself fatigued and risk the possibility of injury performing regular exercise while also attempting to consume a low carb diet.

I am not a doctor, just somebody interested in health and wellness. Listen to your body and trust it. If it says that the 30 day low carb diet isn't working, try something else. The best method for losing weight is a healthy diet and regular exercise. It's finding the time that can prove challenging.
