The trees that the rubberwood derive from are used primarily for latex, however, as the tree ages the amount of latex each tree can produce slowly declines. These trees are, in turn, usually burned or used for firewood. By using the trees for production of watch boxes, Xetum relies less on other resources to produce them, and rather uses material that would otherwise be burned into thin air, basically wasting a perfectly good resource.
