Baggy Yoga Pants vs Skinny Yoga Pants

Yoga pants come in a variety of styles and fashions, and it's up to you to decide what looks best! The best prices are online! If you are slim and tiny, maybe some tighter yoga pants may prove more comfortable. If you have a plus size or athletic frame, baggy yoga pants are the way to go for sure!

Popular Brands of Yoga Pants

The most sought after brands of yoga pants are:

  • Athleta
  • Hard Tail
  • Nike
  • Old Navy
  • Prana
  • Victoria’s Secret

You are ultimately going to pay for comfort. Yoga pants are designed to be flexible and form fitting, allowing you to stretch to the max without worrying about a rip and embarrassment. Besides they are comfortable! They even make baggy yoga pants for the men and women who need a little more comfort! Plus size yoga pants are one of the most versatile forms of plus size clothing out there because they are so flexible and easy to wear!

Baggy Yoga Pants vs Skinny Yoga Pants Par Deux!

Most yoga pants are made from synthetic knits or cotton and tend to be the most popular styles. Companies have experimented with using different fabrics such as silk and linen, but these tend to create baggy yoga pants. Not to mention, heavier materials retain more heat and a lighter material such as cotton or specially designed synthetic knits allow your yoga pants to be breathable so you won't be so uncomfortable.

Yoga is relaxing and meditative, or fast paced and a serious workout. Bikram Yoga, also known as Hot Yoga, almost requires you to wear lighweight yoga pants. Although they may or may not be for you, it sure beats wearing loose fitting uncomfortable material especially when it’s hot. It's suggested to not wear baggy yoga pants in Bikram because they will retain more heat.

There are many types of which you can practice and wearing yoga pants to most classes seems pretty standard across the board. They resemble thicker tights or stockings, but they are “yoga pants” so you won’t mind going grocery shopping or grabbing a smoothie after a yoga session because they are also a fashion statement!

Other Ways to Wear Yoga Pants

Yoga pants have even gone further than simply wearing them to a yoga class. Many women wear them for

  • A day around the house
  • A movie matinee
  • Underneath doctor’s garb
  • Underneath nurse’s scrubs.
  • Even as a new mother, yoga pants offer ultimate flexibility so, many women tend to wear them after giving birth.
  • Yoga pants have even become part of urban culture, especially in larger cities such as New York and Boston.
  • Even to class!

Yoga pants also come in three distinct styles, but more as well. You will notice full length pants, yoga capris, and yoga shorts as well. Occasionally you will see loose fitting baggy yoga patns, but the tighter they are, the les you will get tangled when attempting a stretch.

I think quality of yoga pants is important. I mean, the ones from Old Navy are made from a more cotton based material which it turn isn't as breathable as synthetic knits. With yoga pants, it comes down to personal preference and how much you want to spend though.

Does the quality of your yoga pants really matter much? I'm sure Nike pants cost way more than those from Old Navy but I'm not sure how much extra benefit you would get out of them.

I love Prana brand. I bought a pair about 9 years ago, and wore them a few times a week the whole time I had them...they sadly just died, but I was so impressed I would always buy that brand.
